The Living Nativity

Golden, British Columbia

We yearn, our Father, for the simple beauty of Christmas - for all the old familiar melodies
and words that remind us of that great miracle when He who had made all things was one night
to come as a Babe, to lie in the crook of a woman's arms.
Peter Marshall in The Prayers of Peter Marshall

Under the prompting and organizing of Maggie Stadey, many people came together, bringing their various gifts, to stage the re-enactment of that beautiful night over 2000 years ago. It was considered by organizers and participants to be a gift to the whole community of Golden. So successful was it that it was promptly decided to do it again and a tradition was born.

the birth It was realized that this gift could also be a gift to the larger world by putting it online. Thus was conceived this modest website. The full text of the Narrative with stage instructions is included so that others wishing to take the gift to their towns and villages might have a template to work with.
