THEMATIC BACKGROUND from: The Woman At The Well


CREATIVE CLOSING
In today’s scripture you heard Jesus say to the woman at the well,
"If you knew who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' 
you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." 
(John 4:10)

Now I want you to get in touch with yourself. Imagine yourself as a
plant in God's garden. You know that you have been placed here for a 
reason and a purpose. As that plant you are in touch with the ground 
in the garden near you.  You can feel whether it is dry or moist.

When you picture yourself as that plant, is the soil moist or dry?
How dry is the soil around you?
Right now ask yourself: Am I dry? Do I need watering?

I will be still for a moment so you can answer for yourself: 
“Am I dry? Do I need water?”

 (Pause for 10 to 30 seconds)

Now I want to go one step further. I want you to get in touch with
yourself as the woman at the well.
 
Imagine you are ‘that woman’ – whom many reject.
At noon you go for water.
You meet Jesus at the well.
Though you are a woman and a Samaritan he speaks to you.
You don’t experience judgment and rejection from him.
When you discover he, too, knows your past, you still only see 
compassion in his eyes.

How do you feel as he says: “If you knew who it is that is saying to
you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have 
given you living water?”
 
Do you ask him for that water which wells up to eternal life?  Do 
you ask him for a drink?

I will give you a minute to see yourself as the woman at the well and
answer for yourself. “Do I ask Him for a drink?”
 
If the answer is “Yes” then picture Jesus giving you to drink of living
water – a stream of water that fills you to overflowing with LIFE.
