Creative Closing For Thanksgiving - Year A
- George Hartwell -
Written by George Hartwell, 'Creative Closings' provide the preacher and liturgist with a way to lead the congregation to a deeper experience of the message of the selected Revised Common Lectionary text or texts for the day.   'Creative Closings' follow the sermon or homily and most often pick up on the theme of one of the sermons provided on the 'Sermons & Sermon - Lectionary Resources' site (as referenced in the 'the thematic background').   Each Creative Closing can also stand on it's own and might be used as well in a devotional or bible study session.

If this Creative Closing is of use to you please fell free to utilize it, but reproduction electronically or in print requires the author's authorization.   George Hartwell would also like to hear your response to this resource.   You may see George's web site at www.HealMyLife.com or write him at GHartwell@HealMyLife.com

THEMATIC BACKGROUND from: Thanksgiving Sunday Sermon Resources

READING: Deuteronomy 8:7–18

KEY VERSE: Deuteronomy 8:18
"You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who
gives you power to get wealth; that he may confirm his covenant
which he swore to your fathers.”

PRINCIPLE: Even when we do the work, God is at work giving us
the capacity to benefit from our work – to prosper, to create wealth.

RESPONSE: To acknowledge God’s hand in supply, in providing,
in blessing our efforts.

CREATIVE CLOSING
One of the joys of viewing life from a Biblical perspective is that
we know whom to thank for the blessings in life. Let us each take a
moment now to remember the ways in which God has blessed us. Let us
think over the last year carefully. Write down what we can be thankful
for at this thanksgiving season. In our time of silence count your
blessings and smile inwardly to God. Give thanks to God for the good
he has done in your life. Enjoy your God.
