Following the introduction experiences shows that there is normally applause. Then the musician will begin the wedding recessional. The couple, with the groom to the left of the bride, followed by the best man and the maid or matron of honour will recede down the aisle. The rest of the wedding party will fall in behind them - then the immediate family normally exits after them. The recessional is not as "slow" or "stately" as the processional, however the couple and all members of the wedding party are encouraged to pause at the top of aisle for a second or two before continuing down the aisle and out.
